Villány (+20 Km) ENG

Villány, the center of the Villány wine region, awaits visitors with many fascinating attractions and program opportunities. The most famous landmark of the city is the Villányi Cellars, where the historic wine cellars line up. These cellars not only offer wine tasting opportunities, but also provide insight into the traditions and history of winemaking (Villány Info).

The Temple Hill lookout and the Ammonites nature trail offer special natural attractions. Due to the fossils and paleontological remains found in the abandoned quarries, the area has been declared protected, and the lookout offers an impressive panorama (Hotel Cabernet).

The Villányi Wine Museum, located in the Gál Cellar, presents one of the largest wine collections in the country. The museum is open all year round, and wine tastings can also take place upon prior registration (Trekhunt).

The numerous churches in the city are also worthy of attention. The Roman Catholic Church was built in 1753 in Baroque style, while the Szent Imre Herceg Church in Virágos is in late Baroque style and was completed in 1755 (Villány Info).

As part of a short trip, we can visit the nearby Siklós castle, which is one of the best-preserved castles in Hungary. The castle has different architectural styles and welcomes visitors with Renaissance furniture and a military history exhibition (Traveladdict | Travel - live) (Trekhunt).
